5 Reasons the World of Warcraft Movie will be like Avatar
The World of Warcraft movie has been announced:
“We are pleased to announce that Duncan Jones, director of critically-acclaimed films Source Code and Moon, has signed on with Legendary Pictures to direct the upcoming live-action film based on the Warcraft universe.”
Of course this was back in January but recently it was announced that the film could begin shooting around the first quarter of 2014. This could prompt a 2015 release. Only two years to go! Here are five ways in which Avatar could be similar to the upcoming movie based on the Warcraft game universe.
There are scenes in Avatar where Jake Sully and his female friend fly into the skies on mounts. They must be over Level 60 in order to have access to those. Could we be seeing flying mounts in the World of Warcraft movie as well?
This zone in the Burning Crusade expansion looks very similar to where Jake Sully find himself on the first night after creating his Avatar. The colours, lights and the shrooms are all around giving off this very similar environment. If we see this areas featured in the movie, there could be a lot of similarities with Avatar.
Night Elves, Trolls and Draenei
The Avatar’s in the film are a blue colour. If we merged together three races of World of Warcraft, the blue troll, the draenei and the night elf, we would end up with something which looks very similar to that of the Na’vi origin from the movie. Of course, excluding the tusks from the troll.
Forest Shredders and the Goblins
When you reach the levels of the Cataclysm expansion in World of Warcraft, you end up in a zone called Twilight Highlands. Within this zone is a few quests where you must take out goblins driving forest shredders. The thing is, these are also in Avatar. Towards the end of the movie, giant forest shredders come in and start taking out the trees. This could be featured within the Warcraft movie giving more similarities.
Finally, there is the giant tree in Mount Hyjal within the World of Warcraft game. In the Avatar film, everyone was bound to this giant tree, and the same goes for the Night Elves in the game. In fact there are two, Nordrassil and Teldrassil. Nordrassil is the most recent as it is in the Cataclysm expansion.
What is the biggest similarity you can think of between these two movies? Perhaps James Cameron should be directing it.
